ORIGIN
Two members of Rotary International met in December 2021 at a Rotary meeting in Waxahachie, Texas. One was Sam T. Otieno, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Suna Migori, in Kenya. The other Rotarian was Dave McSpadden, a Past District Governor of Rotary International District 5810 in North Texas. The two immediately realized they were destined to become friends and partners in their shared humanitarian service hearts.
In 2014, Sam created the Righteousness Through Christ (RTC) Ministries program to serve the needs of the Southwestern villages of Kenya, near Lake Victoria. His mission at that time was to minister to the spiritual, education and women’s empowerment needs of his fellow Kenyans and to help break the cycle of poverty prevalent in his part of Kenya.
By 2016 Sam added the need for primary health care to RTC Ministries. So, again, Sam committed his resources to create and operate a small mission medical facility, the RTC Medical Centre. Today, the RTC Medical Centre campus provides 24-hour emergency room triage and care, an in-patient clinic, an out-patient clinic, women’s maternity and delivery care, screening and treatments for HIV-AIDS and other diseases, a pharmacy, ultrasound sonography, laboratory services, vocational counseling, vocational training, health insurance for poor families and spiritual counseling services through hospital chaplaincy.
Dave agreed to create a U.S. based non-profit organization to support the on-going success and programs of what Sam had diligently created in Kenya without outside support. Today, RTC Missions, Inc., a Texas based 501(c)3, is touching lives around the world. We praise God for making this happen and bringing us to you.
